Introduced in 1990 during President George H.W. Bush’s administration, the EB-5 Investor Visa Program was designed to boost economic growth in the U.S. by encouraging capital investment in businesses that create jobs. The program allocates 10,000 immigrant visas annually to qualified foreign nationals who invest in new enterprises that generate employment.

To qualify, the program requires a one-time investment of $800,000 (which may be borrowed or gifted by a relative) in a new U.S.-based business or real estate project, resulting in the creation of 10 permanent jobs for U.S. residents. Although the investment must be “at risk” with no guaranteed return of capital, our aim is to return the investment along with profits after the job-creating entity is sold or refinanced, typically within four to five years.
